Dr. Ramakrishna Pai J is an earnest and prescient Professor and Head in the Department of Clinical Microbiology, holding the position of Laboratory Director with additional Responsibility of Vice Principal at MMCH& RC. He has completed MBBS from Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore in 2006 and M.D. Microbiology in 2011.He also pursued MBA in the year 2013 from Sikkim Manipal University. His previous assignment was as Professor and Head, Department of Clinical Microbiology at Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences, Port Blair, with Additional responsibility of Dean (Academics). He was also the Chairman of the Medical Education Unit (MEU), member secretary of Hospital Infection Control Committee at Port Blair. He previously worked as Associate Professor, Department of Clinical Microbiology, MES Medical College Perinthalmanna, Kerala from April 2017 to September 2020. Additionally, he has held various positions as Technical Manager of Molecular lab, NABH coordinator, Hospital infection Control Officer, II MBBS Course coordinator at MES Medical College. He started his career at Father Muller Medical College Hospital as Assistant professor / Hospital Infection Control Officer and Chairman of Lab safety committee from 2013-17. 

He is a certified Pre-entry level Assessor for Health care organizations according to NABH standards and an Internal auditor according to ISO 15189:2012, NABL 112 and NABH standards. He has received Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Summer Fellowship 2011 and worked in the Department of Neurobiology at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata. He is trained by The American Society for Microbiology, in Biosafety and Culture of Responsibility at Hyderabad, India in 2014. He was instrumental in conducting several training programs on Hospital infection control, Antibiotic stewardship program, Biomedical Waste segregation, Management for health care workers and Patient safety. He had also contributed to the field of Nosocomial infection by publishing more than 50 articles in various national and international indexed journals and won several times in different platforms for best paper. He has written Review articles and text book chapters on medicinal properties of various traditional medicinal plants and fruits. He has special interest in field of prevention of Nosocomial Infections, Fungal infections, Multi drug resistant organisms, Environment & Biomedical Waste Management and antimicrobial activity of traditional Indian medicinal plants and fruits.
